ISEC Course Syllabus Course Title: Service Learning I Program of The Students: Financial Engineering Course Credit:2 Total Contact Hours:32 Semester:5 Pre-Requisite:Business English Instructor:Liu Aie Course Description: (Approx 200 Words) This course is a professional course for economic management majors, a branch of international finance, which explores the theoretical and practical issues of international monetary movement from a micro perspective, and its main purpose is to settle the creditor's rights and debts between countries in monetary terms in the most scientific and effective way. It mainly teaches the knowledge of cross-border settlement tools, settlement methods and bank-centered fund transfer and clearing, and teaches the skills of issuing settlement bills, overseas remittance, collection, letter of credit, bank guarantee, international factoring, forfaiting, etc. In the teaching, this course is interspersed with the practical operation of international settlement, and through the analysis of real cases, students' thinking, practice and innovation ability are improved. This course is a follow-up course of monetary finance, , and lays a foundation for the study of international finance, international trade, foreign exchange bank accounting, international financing practice, and import and export document certification courses. Unexcused absences will be reflected in the final grade. · The teacher does not grant excused absences; therefore, contact the teacher prior to the class if the student is not going to attend. A student is tardy if not attend at the class’s scheduled begin time. · Leave requires documents and approval from the counselor and dean. Three unexcused absences will directly lead to “F” grade. Ø Participation Policy · Students should participate in their registered classes actively and effectively. The Participation Grade is related to the Attendance Grade. Students’ final attendance grade is the maximum of their participation grade. · Participation grade will be based on a variety of factors including participate in class discussions and activities, answering questions correctly, obeying class rules, and being prepared for the class. Ø Policy on Assignments and Quizzes · Students should finish their assignments completely and punctually. Assignments should be submitted on the date appointed by the teacher. If a student cannot submit the assignment on time, the reasonable excuse will be needed. Late submissions will receive a maximum grade of 79. An submission that is late for more than 3 days will be marked but receive 0. · Students are advised to print all assignments in the format specified by the teacher. If the format is not standard will receive a maximum grade of 80. Ø Plagiarism · Any form of cheating is NEVER tolerated. Any student ONCE caught cheating on a quiz, assignment or examination will receive a 0 for that particular work for the whole semester. The definition of plagiarism will be carefully explained at the beginning of each semester. When any thoughts or writings of another person are used, the sources must be clearly referred (using quotes, bibliography and giving reference). Ø Classroom Policies · No eating, electronic dictionaries, smoking, chatting or drowsing in class. · Please speak English rather than Chinese in class as possiable as you can. · Stand up when answering questions. · Respect classmates’ ideas, opinions, and questions of your classmates. · You are welcome to visit the instructor’s office during his/her office hours. · Put the trash into the trash-bin. · All your classroom involvement, performance and after-class communications with instructor will affect your participation score. Many grammatical spelling mistakes, affect reading Late Work Policy: Attendance in class is mandatory for all students enrolled in the course. Any excused absence must be discussed directly with the teacher. Being late to class within 3minutes will be recorded as 1 LATE and being late over 5 minutes will be recorded as 1 ABSENCE. 3 LATES equal to 1 ABSENCE. 20% absences of the total teaching hours will cause an F (a failing grade) directly. However, students are still welcome to continue to attend class. F students have no right to drop this course anymore. Each unexcused absence will result in the lowering of the attendance grade by 1 point. Each excused absence will result in the lowering of the attendance grade by 0.5 point.If someone has special reason to be absent, the one must tell the teacher the real reason alone.
